The Method
Pressure moments decide tennis careers. Here’s how I prime your mind to own them
How Pressure Steals Your Game
When overthinking and trying too hard interrupts our body’s natural flow in something that’s deeply embedded within our subconscious, something I’ve termed Conscious Interference occurs.
Take making a simple cup of tea, something you’ve likely done thousands of times. But instead, imagine someone offers you £1 million to make the perfect cup of tea with no mistakes. It suddenly becomes clunky and feels awkward.
Now imagine you’ve got a second serve at 6-5 match point in a tiebreak to qualify for your very first Wimbledon Main Draw. Even if your second serve % hasn’t let you down the whole of qualifying and you’ve been working hard on it all season, your arm suddenly feels heavier, your heart starts beating harder and faster, your legs feel weaker.
It's not your tennis ability that lets you down, it’s Conscious Interference hijacking your body’s natural flow and replacing instinct with panic.
Conscious Interference is directly tied to the human stress response. When the pressure spikes, your brain doesn’t distinguish between a life-threatening moment and a break point that could define your season. The same machinery fires; muscles tighten, clarity vanishes and trust in your game disappears.
The Techniques No One Else in Tennis Is Using
Many professionals working in elite tennis don’t have the experience of working with the stress response to the degree I do. My work gives you access to techniques that no one else in elite tennis is using or has access to. They come from a unique branch of Psychotherapy I’ve used to help people navigate the most extreme stress imaginable, from military veterans with complex PTSD to survivors of long-term abuse. These very same techniques transfer and adapt seamlessly to tennis performance.
How? By working directly with the emotional control centre of the brain, we can rewire your response to stress on the tennis court and help you unlock your best tennis during those 6-7 match-defining moments.
From Pressure Controlling You To You Controlling Pressure
Before
Matches swing on 6-7 points. Sometimes you win them, sometimes they slip away.
Nerves creep in on break points, clarity vanishes in tiebreaks, and inconsistency stops you building momentum week after week.
During
We rewire your stress response at the source. You learn to reset in seconds between points, prime your peak state before matches, and access the same flow under pressure that you feel in practice.
After
Those 6-7 moments become your strength, not your weakness. Qualifying losses turn into main draw runs. Rankings climb. Prize money grows. And you step onto court knowing your best tennis will show up when it matters most.
The Player Journey: From Struggle to Breakthrough
Every player at this level feels the same story; strong enough to win but too often the wrong points slip away. That’s why the process I use is built to get right to the heart of those 6-7 match defining moments.
Match Diagnostics & Close-Match Analysis
We start with your season. I do a deep-dive analysis into your match history to identify the patterns: tiebreaks lost, deciding sets flipped, break points saved and missed. Together we pinpoint exactly where your mindset is costing you matches.
1:1 Performance Therapy
This is where the big work happens. During training blocks, we go deep. These sessions eliminate conscious interference, retrain your emotional brain, and sharpen the ability to stay loose and decisive when pressure spikes.
Pre-Match Emotional Priming
Before you step on court, you’ll use fast, focused mindset activations designed to tune your emotional state. You start matches with trust, clarity and intent.
Unlimited Tour Support
Working with me means you have your very own personal mental performance coach and therapist. I’m on hand for voice notes, match prep, and emergency mindset tuning whenever needed. You’re supported throughout the full cycle of travel, qualifying, and main draws, even just for an emotional check in.
Personalised Mental Game Strategy
Everything is tailored to how you play, think, and compete under pressure. From routines between points, to how you recover momentum, to how you handle scoreboard pressure; this is your strategy, built for your game.
